Construction Manager


  • Collaborate with the acquisitions and design team to complete project scoping, budgeting, final pricing, scheduling, and bid documentation.

  • Source and build relationships with external stakeholders including general contractors, subcontractors, architects of record, and code consultants to advocate for Summer’s interests from due diligence to closeout. 

  • Expertly negotiate and support vendor contracts while building and maintaining relationships with vendor partners.

  • Solicit bids from GCs, Warehouses, Installers, etc, answer RFIs, level and award bids. 

  • Manage and oversee work sites for both new construction and remodel projects of all Summer assets.  Monitor progress and compliance with building and safety regulations. Monitor remotely in conjunction with the Design + Install Managers as needed.

  • Attend all construction and opening related meetings with regular trips to sites during construction including: bid walks, pre-construction walks, in-progress site visits, punch walks, construction closeout, and openings.

  • Oversee and provide direction to general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure Summer’s quality and brand standards are achieved at all stages of the project. 

  • Maintain SOW and monitor contract obligations to ensure quality and build long-term, quality relationships with a national field of contractors.

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Architects, Designers, Local Jurisdictions, Utilities Companies, Operations, Design, Legal, etc. 

  • Identify potential project risks and delays and offer solutions to reduce slippage and cash burn. 

  • Build and deploy internal processes and templates based on industry cost and performance standards, historical data, and benchmarks. Train field teams as necessary to perform required duties as necessary. 

  • Technical and hands on expertise when needed: minor electrical, plumbing, and installation, etc.


  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • 6-8+ Years experience in construction management or project management, with a focus in Hospitality, Multi-Family or Short Term Rental assets preferred.

  • Passionate about all phases of real estate development, project cost estimating, construction and project management with a focus on critical details. 

  • Excellent takeoff skills with industry standard software.

  • Significant experience negotiating with and managing external vendors and contractors on time, cost, and quality.

  • The ability to independently plan and complete multiple projects on time with minimal supervision.

  • Comfortable working in a face-paced environment—ready to go from 0 to 100 on a project, stop on a dime, and pick back up as needed.

  • Proficient understanding of all construction documentation and an understanding of public review and permitting processes.

  • Strong knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Expert with Google Suite; experience with project management applications. 

  • Ability and willingness to travel 50% of the time and spend a week + on site to ensure the project is 100% guest ready.
